Jean Gaumy

Jean Gaumy is one of my favourite photographers. His remarkable book on Normandy fishermen working in harsh north Atlantic environment has everything good documentary photography needs - compelling story, remarkable environment and enormous commitment on photographer's part. When you look at these photographs you can just feel the water and the movement of the ship and wind slicing through oilskins like a knife. If you will buy only one photo book in your life, this one might just be worth your investment.… (more)
