Stephen M. Gavazzi is a Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. He also is the lead director of his university’s Center for Family Research. Over the past twenty-five years, Professor Gavazzi has been involved in research that focuses on how families influence the healthy development of teenagers. Also a trained family therapist, Dr. Gavazzi has been involved in the development and evaluation of a number of family-based programs that inform this book. As the father of three teenagers, he also understands the private side of how families work during this period of life.
