Mitch Rayes worked as a professional outfitter in the jungles of Chiapas Mexico near the Guatemalan border---some of that time was during the war years when Guatemalans were fleeing for their lives. He was founder of the non-profit Flaming Tongues and he produced several Albuquerque Poetry Festivals. For his work as founder of THE PROJECTS, a poetry venue in Albuquerque, he was awarded the 2013 Gratitude Award from NM Literary Arts for hosting more than 100 events and poetry readings.
Ann Hunkins is an award-winning poet and translator of Nepali living in Santa Fe. A former NEA and Fullbright grantee with an MA in poetry from UC Davis, she has published in many journals. She is a freelance photographer, and documentary filmaker.
Renny Golden’s poetry book Blood Desert: Witnesses 1820-1880, published by the University of New Mexico Press, won the WILLA Literary Award from Women Writing the West 2011, was named a Southwest Notable Book of the Year 2012 and was a Finalist for the New Mexico Book Award 2012. She is poetry editor for Voices From the American Land, Board member for West End Press and El Malpais Poetry Review.
