Jesse Goldhammer is a principal at Deloitte who develops transformational innovation programs that help clients to solve vexing public and private sector challenges. Trained in political theory, Goldhammer has a longstanding interest in the genealogy of social, economic, and political power; he has taught in several universities and worked in the information technology sector. His first book, The Headless Republic, examined the role of violence and sacrifice in French intellectual and political life. His most recent book, Deviant Globalization, explores the underlying forces that enable a wide variety of illicit global flows, including drugs, weapons, and toxic waste.

Jesse Goldhammer is a principal of Deloitte Consulting LLP with Doblin, the innovation practice of Monitor Deloitte. He develops transformational innovation programs that help clients to solve vexing public and private sector challenges. For over 20 years, Jesse has designed powerful strategies and implemented customized innovation techniques that enable clients to reimagine their offers and services, reinvent their organizations and adapt to dynamic environments. Jesse particularly enjoys bringing together unique people, ideas and technologies in order to push the boundaries of lateral thinking and challenge orthodoxies and mindsets.

Jesse has experience in the government, philanthropy and technology sectors, allowing him to effectively cross fertilize lessons, insights, opportunities and practices. He leverages multiple toolkits to address clients' needs, including strategy, innovation, organizational design and futures methodologies. Jesse has helped agencies in the US defense and intelligence communities to build capabilities for analyzing complex geo-strategic and technology issues, thinking systematically about future trends and surprises and communicating findings to senior government leaders. Having also worked at Global Business Network, Monitor's future-focused business unit, Jesse is experienced in scenario planning and has taught scenario planning training courses to a variety of clients.

Jesse earned a BA in social science from UC Berkeley as well as an MA from New York University and a PhD from UC Berkeley in political science. He is an accomplished instructor, facilitator and presenter. Jesse is currently examining the world of illicit global businesses and their ability to rapidly innovative in grey and black markets. He has co-authored a book on this topic titled Deviant Globalization: Black Market Economy in the 21st Century (Continuum Publishing, 2011). An expert in modern political theory, Jesse is also the author of The Headless Republic (Cornell University Press, 2005) as well as several articles on the subject of radical change.
