Happy Hour with novelist Meredith Goldstein (July 25) The Learned Owl is sponsoring a happy hour with advice columnist and debut novelist Meredith Goldstein at the Blue Rock Cafe (5827 Darrow Rd., Hudson). Goldstein's book, The Singles, follows Hannah, Vicki, Phil, Joe and Rob, the only guests to RSVP without a date to Bee Evans's spare-no-expense country club nuptials. Each of the "Singles" has his or her own relationship drama, and as the narrative unfolds, we learn how their lives intersect - predictably at times, but also in unexpected ways. The tale plays out like a big-screen romantic comedy, making it no surprise that The Singles has been optioned for a movie adaptation.
Meredith Goldstein is an advice columnist and entertainment reporter for the Boston Globe. In addition to "Love Letters", the most popular blog in Boston next to the Red Sox blog, she co-writes the paper's society column, "Names". She lives in Boston.
During the event we will be collecting donations to benefit Pawsibilities (The Humane Society of Greater Akron). Join us to support a great cause!
