THE OFFICIAL RITUAL

PREAMBLE

PREVIOUS editions of the Official Ritual of the Royal
Order of Scotland, authorised and published by the
Grand Lodge of the Order in Edinburgh, have lacked
the rubrics and directions necessary for the proper
conduct of the ceremonies. This has led, at times, to
doubt as to the correct method of working the Degrees.

At the suggestion of Brother R. J. Hammond, Right
Worshipful Provincial Grand Master of Hertfordshire,
and Brother Hollick, also of that Provincial Grand
Lodge, this rubricated edition of the Official Ritual has
been prepared. The Executive Committee of the Royal
Order take this opportunity of expressing their thanks
to these two Members of the Order for many suggestions
as to the form which the rubrics might take and also
to Brother George Draffen of Newington, Substitute
Governor, who was responsible for collating the various
suggestions and for the preparation of the final proofs...… (more)
