Born the youngest of nine children, Eulalie was sellingher own Christmas cards to friends at twelve years of age. She got her first job at fifteen, doing a page in a women's magazine, then her first book 'Bobby in Bubbleland' (1913) was published when she was eighteen.
In 1916 she married Arthur Wilson, two years later they went to Canada, then in 1919 the USA. They went on to become naturalized citizens. Their daughter Athalie was born in 1921.
After divorcing in the thirties, Eulalie returned to Great Britain, where she and Athalie stayed with one of Eulalie's sisters right through WW2.
'The Bumper Book' was her most long-standing work, going into reprint many times over decades.
Eulalie returned to California in 1953. In 1974 Santa Monica awarded her a Special Commendation for her contribution to the city; she was a sough-after muralist as well as book illustrator, and this not-quite-five-foot powerhouse carried on working until well into her nineties, She was still doing book signings at 102!
