This took me a very long time to get through. Not because of the content, per se, but because of the style. It read a lot like a textbook, so trying to read it at night was often a no go, with only getting about 10-15 pages read and then falling asleep. I actually just took the last couple of hours to finish the last 150 pages.

As a former IBM employee, it's interesting to see the evolution of the company throughout history, and to have first hand experiences of how the company's values were put into effect on a more personal level. While I won't comment on my personal experiences at IBM I will say that I do admire their business values of thinking on a global level and working together to help create new technologies to serve communities and solve problems in addition to their corporate duties. It's nice to see a company that doesn't think of itself only on the corporate level but also envisions it's capabilities and responsibility to individuals.

I also admire, (and was unaware until reading this book) the fact that IBM was one of the first companies to hire women and minorities, and didn't follow the racial segregation issues of the past.

A very detailed and clinical analysis of tech services giant Wipro. It's transformation from a humble peanut oil vendor to tech industry heavyweight and all this due to the vision and perseverance of it's legendary yet humble and down to earth leader Azim Premji. A person who has and continues to lead by example.

What is really remarkable is this relentless quest for excellence through the adoption of game changing processes like Six Sigma, CMM, lean/Kaizen (the Toyota principle of continuous improvement), it's own home grown policies and frameworks line SMM, Veloci-Q.

Premji is a true visionary. It is because of him that makes India what it is on the Global stage. Please put this book at the top of your must read list.

This book offers a brief overview of the exciting new era of cognitive computing from an IBM perspective. In order to handle the incredible amounts of data available, "big data", computers will be developed to learn and adjust, essentially reprogramming themselves. They will be data centric, not processor centric and be able to analyze moving data (streams analytics). The authors, both IBM employees, give us a quick, understandable preview of this development which will completely revolutionize computers and have incredible impact on our lives. IBM's "Watson" for example, that was demonstrated by its defeat of the two top Jeopardy champions, is being further altered to become a more truly thinking machine. There are innumerable uses such as medical diagnostics and city operation as well as sorting through and usefully utilizing the exponentially growing amount of data.… (more)
