Summary:

This book creatively teaches kids about patterns. The bugs put on a show and use patterns throughout it. They use patterns to decorate the stage, to line up, and to dance.

Personal Reaction:

I thought the book did a wonderful job of explaining patterns. I would read it to my class to help them learn patterns.

Classroom Extension Ideas:

1. Present the children with three different types of bugs. Encourage the children to put the bugs into a pattern like in the book.

2. Use the book into an activity involving patterns. Give the children several different objects: blocks of different colors, different shapes of the same color, and different animals. Ask the children to create four different patterns using some of each group of objects.… (more)
