German mathematician. First to state a generalization of Cantor's Continuum Hypothesis. Author of "Grundz├╝ge der Mengenlehre", the first comprehensive introduction to set theory. The mathematical concepts of Hausdorff Measure and Hausdorff Dimension are named for him. Persecuted as a Jew by the Nazis during WWII. Committed suicide in 1942 when faced with being sent to a concentration camp.
