Born in Nevada and raised in Southern California and Southeast Alaska, Nan first attended college in Chicago, Illinois, transferring to Northern Michigan University about the time she met her husband, Jim Tedford. She has written since she was at least seven years old, and the characters in her first novel, An Involuntary King, come from stories she and friend and correspondent, Laura Burr, wrote as teens. She has worked in nonprofit management, about which she has also written and trained. Besides writing and blogging, Nan is a devoté of Celtic music, has a radio station on Live365.com, and has even written a song based on events in her first novel. She has several blogs. Visually impaired from birth, she is a strong advocate for accessible reading. She lives in the beautiful Pacific Norrhwest with her husband of 29 uears and their beloved cats.
