About the Author

Warren James Hinckle III was born in San Francisco, California on October 12, 1938. He received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of San Francisco in 1961. After graduating from college, he started a public relations company and joined The San Francisco Chronicle as a city show more reporter. He became the executive editor of Ramparts in 1964 and resigned in 1969. He edited several other magazine before becoming a columnist for The Chronicle, The San Francisco Examiner, and The San Francisco Independent in the 1980s and 1990s. He wrote a memoir entitled If You Have a Lemon, Make Lemonade in 1974. He died from complications of pneumonia on August 25, 2016 at the age of 77. (Bowker Author Biography) show less

Warren Hinkle was a journalist in the middle of the Fermenting 1960's and this autobiography is feisty and terribly informative about the era. Hunter S. Thompson and Hinkle did the time proud, and are still very revealing of the USA to those interested in social issues.
