Willem G. van de Hulst (1917) is schilder, schrijver en beeldhouwer. Hij exposeert in binnen- en buitenland. Op 14-jarige leeftijd illustreerde hij reeds de onvergetelijke serie In de Soete Suikerbol. Daarna voorzag hij vrijwel alle boeken van zijn vader W.G. van de Hulst van tekeningen.

De indrukwekkende documentaire die de NCRV van zijn werk maakte (getiteld Op zoek naar het licht) wordt nog regelmatig uitgezonden.

Daarnaast schreef Van de Hulst een groot aantal kinderboeken en verhalen, waaronder Wachten op de kraakwagen, Een kwestie van tijd en De natte hond.

Willem G. van der Hulst is donderdag 27 juli 2006 overleden in zijn woonhuis Nieuwersluis.
