We all know about spin, the way that people influence the tone and content of the news. Take that to its logical end and we get a Storykiller, a professional whose job it is to make sure that certain stories don't appear in the first place.

Jack Winter is a Storykiller and he is good at his job. We follow along as he flatters and cajoles and threatens the people who write and tell the news.

But then the people around Jack start turning up dead and Jack is faced with moral decisions that go far beyond questioning whether the public needs to know that the mayor gambles.

This is a satisfying book and I enjoyed it. I do wonder a bit how the ability to ride a heavy motorcycle annealed itself into Jack's brain and deep muscle knowledge. Mr. Hunter lifted a bit too much from action movies for this bit. Never mind, though.

Interesting look at dating in contemporary England. I liked Hunter's (purported) honesty - the book reads as genuine and humorous without being bawdy, silly or irritating, I think.
