'The Lonely Giant' by Alasdair MacLean is fantastic (reason for 5 Star Rating).

Enjoyable tales that (IMO) rank up there with the classic Brothers Grimm tales we're all told.

A lovely collection, especially the ones that are written in Scottish English and treat the Scots-speaking characters like any others - I could hear the accents in my head. Some of the later ones are by Victorians writing in self-consciously English English who in places treat Scots as a curiosity - these are annoying at times.
