Odd to have the illustrations at the end but they are good, very professional looking. It would have been helpful to have some kind of arrangement for the recipes (perhaps meat / vegetarian, main meal / party food) as the numbers for which the recipes are intended vary wildly! Suitable for a cook with some experience. Not all last minute post-work quick meals – some require much more preparation, but a note saying where something could be left to marinade overnight or prepared beforehand would be helpful. If you don’t like garlic (we do) be prepared to make some variations.
American measures and terms but clearly laid out.
Naturally not all the recipes appealed to the whole household (though many did) and to cook all of them would take some time, so I selected nine to try.
Paleo muffin meat – I liked the idea of this one, which is really individual meat loaves and was a bit different. Accurate estimate of preparation time except that time is not allowed for cooling. Clear instructions. A tasty little meat loaf which we served with salad – I think it would be good with a rich tomato sauce, too. This and the sweet potato muffins below would be good for picnics.
Chicken and Garlic – This made the kitchen smell wonderful for hours! Lots of garlic, and tender chicken after long cooking. Again, it needs a salad or green veg to go with it or it looks a little dull. The instructions were slightly vague – I was not sure whether or not to break up the garlic heads into separate cloves, but I threw them in whole and it seemed to work. I was also not quite sure what ‘3 lb chicken cut into eighths’ meant, but made it largish chunks. The sauce was very tasty. I think I’ll blend the garlic heads into what’s left of it and use it for something else – yummy.
Shrimps Balls – Very easy to make. I doubled the quantity of egg purely because I have a bad record of getting patties to stick together. I’m not sure which fourteen people it’s intended to serve: half quantities was good with rice for two to three of us for dinner, but perhaps it’s intended as little party nibbles. Anyway, the patties were very pretty, pink and red and green, and very tasty – I think I would have upped the quantity of scallions, but that’s personal taste.
Fennel and Brussels Sprouts – odd not to have the meat in the title. This was tasty but a little dry – the addition of a good white or onion sauce would have made it excellent. Easy to prepare. Very good reheated, too.
Paleo Chimichurri – very tasty indeed. Served with rice and fresh tomatoes, this was very much enjoyed and looked great. It’s one that needs to be prepared the day before, but once that’s done, it’s quick and uncomplicated.
Likewise the Delicious Paleo Salmon: marinaded from the day before it was sweet and tasty, and very quick to cook.
Spicy Broccoflower – this was a surprise. The recipe was a bit vague, and it certainly didn’t take the 45 minutes indicated – more like twenty. I thought it was suspiciously simple and that there wasn’t going to be enough to feed three of us and that it would be dull, but actually it was extremely good and filling. This is one we’ll definitely be doing again – very simple, and we’re going to experiment with different types of sausage to go in it.
Sweet Potato Muffins – Again, the main ingredient, minced pork, was not mentioned in the title which was a bit odd. However, these were fairly good. We found them a bit dry, though if they were accompanied by baked beans they worked very well.
Mini Fish Fingers – Simple and very good. We had them almost as a finger snack with dips of tomato ketchup, tartare sauce and mayonnaise. Faster to make than 1 hour, though: again, 20 minutes was about right.

All in all an enjoyable recipe book: one probably has to follow it more rigorously for the health benefits suggested.

I received a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great book for those who want to lose weight and be healthy! We all enjoy pancakes in our house and we're anxious to make the Banana Pancakes with Berry Syrup. They were very easy to make and everyone loved them! We won't be cooking the commercial brands anymore! And we are a few pounds less!

I tried the Ricotta and Spinach Gnocchi and loved it. I love regular potato gnocchi but am unable to continue to get it due to health reasons but this was a great substitute for it! The information in the book is easy to understand and very informative. It's definitely not a "fad diet" but a lifestyle change.

This is a quick read which makes it ideal for people who are too busy to study the extensive cons of the standard modern diet. It is clearly written for those who want the basics in terms of what to eliminate and what to consume and how. ...
