Alice Ilgenfritz Jones and her friend Ella Robinson Merchant (1857-1916) used the joint pseudonym Two Women of the West for their feminist utopian satire Unveiling a Parallel: A Romance, published in 1893. Independently, Jones wrote other novels including High-Water-Mark (as Ferris Jerome, 1879), Beatrice of Bayou Teche (1895) and The Chevalier de St. Denis (1900).
