I would definitely recommend this book. It is a very easy read. My daughter tends to get intimidated by books...not the case with this one. She read these passages aloud. They were relateable, and it helped grow her confidence.

This book is a great way for students to connect social emotional learning to reading. It’s a good resource to use along with something else, but not as a standalone. I would suggest using it as it is meant for a enrichment resource.

Another great social-emotional learning resource in the Jacob's Ladder series, this time for 3rd grade. The scaffolding is clear and well-organized. The readings cover a variety of genres and topics, giving students the opportunity to relate readings to their own unique perspectives and experiences.

I LOVE this book. The ladders are wonderful for thoughtful discussion. There is a wide variety of genres of text such as poems, short stories, fables, and biographies. The focus on social and emotional learning is absolutely what I need to work with my students this year. If I could give this 10 stars, I would!
