Robert Ian Kornwise (b. March 3, 1971; d. December 5, 1987) was an aspiring writer living in Michigan. As a teenager, he worked on a fantasy manuscript that would eventually become his sole published work, Through the Ice. However, at the age of 16, he was involved in a fatal automotive accident caused by a drunk driver.
Kornwise's friends sent the unfinished manuscript to Piers Anthony, his favorite author, with a request to complete this work. Anthony agreed, and it was published in 1989.
Kornwise is buried in Adat Shalom Memorial Park in Livonia, Michigan.
