
OCC Chicago Writers Series presents Alex Kotlowitz

An award-winning journalist and author, Alex Kotlowitz’s bestseller, 9There Are No Children Here: The Story of Two Boys Growing Up in the Other America, was selected by the New York Public Library as one of the 150 most important books of the 20th century. His new documentary The Interrupters — a collaboration with Hoop Dreams’ Steve James — examines urban violence. Never a City So Real takes readers on a tour of one of America’s most iconic and historic cities. Kotlowitz is currently writer-in-residence at Northwestern University. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Chicago, and served as a Montgomery Fellow at Dartmouth College.
