Born in Czechoslovakia in 1930. Survived 6 German concentration camps at the age of 14-15. Liberated by U.S. Army in northern Germany after enduring 12-day Sachsenhausen Hunger March. My mother also survived the camps and I met her on the street in Prague after the War. We immigrated to U.S. in 1946. I ran my own import business for over 40 years. Upon my retirement in 2001 I was accepted by the Metropolitan Museum into a docent training course and have happily functioned as a docent for the past six years.
After qualifying as a docent I returned to the manuscript of the memoir of my World War II Childhood -- 1000:1 ODDS -- and pushed ahead to finish it. I may have written finis a bit too precipitously, but getting it off my chest was a genuine catharsis. My book was published in April, 2006. I have since returned to the manuscript and expanded it and maybe someday the expanded version will see the light of day.
