The Big River Writers Conference is a gathering of writers from around the country for four days of workshops and events. For the first time in St. Louis history, River Styx is bringing together some of the most innovative and engaging writers and teachers in literature today, making them accessible to conference attendees in workshop and class settings, readings, and receptions. All readings are free and open to the public.
Dorianne Laux's fifth collection, The book of men, is currently available from W.W. Norton. Winner of a Pushcart Prize, two fellowships from The National Endowment for the Arts, and a Guggenheim Fellowships, she teaches poetry in the MFA program at North Carolina State University.
George Singleton's fifth book of short stories, Stray Decorum, was published in 2011 by Dzanc Books and was a finalist for the Southeastern Independent Booksellers Association Book of the Year. He is currently the John C. Cobb Endowed Chair in the Humanities at Wofford College.
