In his latest book, Embracing Israel/Palestine: A Strategy to Heal & Transform the Middle East, Rabbi Michael Lerner argues that additional peace talks would be "virtually pointless" unless they are preceded and accompanied by a sustained campaign to change the way each side demeans and dehumanizes the other. His approach focuses on the pernicious effects of post-traumatic stress among Israelis and Palestinians. He takes inspiration from past movements to change public consciousness that were initially dismissed as "utopian." Embracing Israel/Palestine has received strong endorsements from Avrum Burg, Jimmy Carter, Desmond Tutu, Keith Ellison, Sami Awad, and many diverse faith leaders and peace activists.
