The Gaslight Gathering Steampunk and Victoriana Convention makes its spectacular return on May 3-5, 2013. Offerings at the gala event include the Time Traveller Under the Sea Ball; the Junto Academy, featuring demonstrations and workshops in the arts of Steampunk making and costuming; the Art Salon; the Steampunk High Tea; and the Victorian Fashion Show and Tea. Jay Lake will be the Writer Guest of Honor. Other guests include Todd McCaffrey, Cat Winters, Kaja Foglio, and more!

In honor of Guest of Honor Jay Lake, and sponsored charity Freedom Dogs, Gaslight Gathering is holding a charity auction on Sunday, May 5. Fans of all genres have had a long tradition of giving back to the community that supports them and Gaslight is no exception.

The New York Review of SF readings for December 4 continue an annual tradition of having a family reading with Ellen Kushner and Delia Sherman, and Claire Wolf Smith as host.

Delia Sherman writes stories and novels for younger readers and adults. Her most recent short stories have appeared in the young adult anthology Steampunk! and in Ellen Datlow’s Naked City.

Ellen Kushner is a novelist, performer and public radio personality. Her award-winning novels include the “mannerpunk” cult classic Swordspoint and Thomas the Rhymer. With Holly Black, she recently co-edited Welcome to Bordertown, a revival of the original urban fantasy shared world series created by Terri Windling. Kushner is the longtime host of the public radio show “Sound & Spirit.” Audiobook recordings of her first two “Riverside” novels, Swordspoint and The Privilege of the Sword, featuring Kushner as narrator, were released this year by Neil Gaiman Presents for Audible.com. Author, editor, publisher and teacher Kelly Link kicks off this summer's series of visits from instructors at the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers' Workshop. Kelly's short story collections, Stranger Things Happen and Magic for Beginners, contain multiple award-winning tales. Kelly is also co-editor of The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror, and occasional zine Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet, as well as running Small Beer Press with husband Gavin Grant.
