Murder By The Book, Thursday, January 29 at 6:30pm
Bill Loehfelm will sign and discuss Doing the Devil's Work (Sarah Crichton Books; $25).

Bill’s first three novels, The Devil She Knows (2011), which featured Maureen’s debut, Bloodroot (2009), and Fresh Kills (2008), winner of the first Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award, are set in Staten Island, NYC, where he grew up.

Born in Park Slope, Bill grew up in Brooklyn and on Staten Island. After college in Scranton, PA, where he studied communications and English, he taught high school English on Staten Island. In 1997, he moved to New Orleans, where he has taught high school and college, worked in an antique shop, and done absolutely everything there is to do in the bar and restaurant business (except cook). He received his MA from the University of New Orleans in 2005. He plays drums in a rock n’ roll cover band.

Bill lives in New Orleans’ Garden District with his wife, AC Lambeth, a writer and yoga instructor, and their two dogs.

MysteryPeople Presents NOIR AT THE BAR featuring authors TREY BARKER Bill Loehfelm

Happening at Opal Divine's 3601 S. Congress

The only thing most crime fiction fans love as much as books is drinking, so it only makes sense that someone would combine both. Started in Philadelphia a few years, Noir At The Bar has made its way across the country from Philadelphia to LA. MysteryPeople gives it an Austin spin at Opal Divine's on South Congress.

This month, we'll have two of the hippest hard boiled authors on the scene reading from and discussing their work: Trey Barker and Bill Loehfelm. Come for the crime fiction, stay for a drink or two and kick back with another rowdy night of noir, Austin style.

Trey R. Barker is the author of 2,000 Miles To Open Road, Exit Blood, Remembrance and Regrets, The Cancer Chronicles, as well as hundreds of short stories. His latest novel, Slow Bleed, is just out and the next in his Barefield series, Death Is Not Forever, is coming soon. Trey is an Illinois deputy sheriff and member of the Illinois Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Cyber Crimes Federal Working Group.

Bill Loehfelm is the author of five novels. His most recent is his first New Orleans-set novel, 2013’s THE DEVIL IN HER WAY, the second in the Maureen Coughlin series, from Sarah Crichton Books/FSG. Bill’s fifth novel, DOING THE DEVIL’S WORK, the new Maureen Coughlin adventure, comes out in January 2015. Can't make it to the event? You can order a signed, personalized copy of this book.
