Raven’s Quest is a paranormal romance book. This book is very short. It can be read is one sitting around 45 minutes at most.

While this was an interesting book, I felt like there was something missing. I just could not totally connect with this book. However it makes me want to find out more about this series and see if the other books are as interesting.

This book start’s out with Raven, one of the main characters, at a large formal party. She complains about her feet killing her. Well all of us females know about this little problem. We get dressed up for some party and the only shoes we can find that are perfect for the dress is killer shoes. The shoes look so great but they are horrible to wear.

Raven meet’s up with a fellow worker Hedy. At one time these to females were sworn enemies but have come to truce. While waiting for the guest of honor to finish his speech an abnormal crime happens.

Okay have I got your interest in this book yet. Well just one more bit of info. Raven has the killer looking boyfriend, Finn. He is scribed as someone that would make almost anyone drool.

Now I bet I have your attention about this short book. Finn is the other main character. He and Raven are partners in a Recovery unit. I can not explain what this unit is or anything about it. That is one part of the book I do not understand and where I felt something was missing.

Okay no more about this book. If you follow my blog you know that I will not write a lot about a description on the book. The reason is because I will give everything away and then it is not worth reading.

Thanks for an interesting read Toni.

Review Copy from Author

What I Loved: The Lore in this book was amazing. Toni did an excellent job of giving you the history of the Wiccan and Voodoo cultures, some of the spells/chants used, and a glimpse into their world. This really helped to bring you into the world instead of keeping you on the outside.

What I Liked: This book was about two cultures that don't get a lot of time in books. Though there are a fair number of books about witches out there, the voodoo side makes the book unique. The story was very compelling in parts and you want to see how it ends.

Complaints: The book was a little to all over the place for me. It felt a bit like a stream of ideas that were grouped together but in some instances they appeared to be out of place. That made it where I was little disconnected from the characters and the story in general.

Why I gave it a 3: The lore and world building was done really well in this book. You can tell the author put a lot of work into making sure that the actions of the characters rang true. For a first novel, this was a really good effort.

Who I would recommend this too: Urban Fantasy readers who like Lore and unique world building. I think this will appeal more to those who love Urban Fantasy more than I do. The romance was not strong enough for me personally (though it was there)

What happens when you get bit by a demon and don't die when everyone else does? What happens when you don't turn evil like the few that do survive do? You take it out by hunting the thing down, but to kill it you have to kill an even bigger demon. Raven finds it gets harder as she tries to stop the demon from fulfilling an age old prophecy.

Toni LoTempio gives the readers romance, mystery, and lots of paranormal in Raven's Kiss. The story moves along at a good pace while revealing along the way more of Raven's past and that of those around her including the paranormal figures. In that aspect, Ms. LoTempio does an excellent job.

It was an entertaining read that keeps you wanting to know more and discover what is behind the actions of all the characters. I couldn't put it down as I moved from one time plane to another.

There is some language but it is peppered about in the story and is not put there for the sake of using language. The F-bomb is used as well as some some intimate scenes that are described or hinted at. I do applaud the fact that Ms. LoTempio does not put in sex scenes for the sake of just having them there. They are placed strategically and enhance the development of the characters.

A great read.

Note: This book was provided as part of a tour with no expectation of a positive review.
