Alison Lurie Alison LurieIn a prelude to Saturday's grand opening of the Children's Library, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alison Lurie gives a keynote address on the subject of children's literature on Friday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library. Lurie, who has been described by The New York Times as "one of this country's most able and witty novelists," has made her mark in the literary world in genres including Children's Essays, Novels, and Nonfiction. Her most famous work, Foreign Affairs, earned Lurie the Pulitzer in 1985. Just a few years later, Lurie began to alter the landscape of children's literature with a collection of well-received essays. In 1990, she published Don't Tell the Grown-ups: Subversive Children' Literature, followed by Boys and Girls Forever in 2004.
