Marti MacGibbon, CADC-II, I-CADC, ACRPS, is an author, addiction treatment professional, motivational speaker, and veteran standup comic. She is a member of the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselors (CAADAC), the Indiana Counselors Association on Alcohol and Drug Addiction (ICAADA), and the National Speakers Association. Marti developed her vibrant sense of humor and acquired her depth from living life at full volume.
What is remarkable about Marti MacGibbon is that she is so resilient. She has rebounded and healed herself from experiences that embody the nightmares of many people — international human trafficking, domestic violence, addiction, homelessness; and she not only survived, but has recovered and thrived.
Marti worked as a professional standup comic from 2000-2007. But she knew she wanted to give more to life than laughs. So she enrolled in education and training as an addiction treatment specialist. In 2007 she completed her internship at Twin Town Treatment Centers in Los Angeles. And she began working as an addictions counselor to homeless veterans at Swords to Plowshares, a non-profit organization established by homeless Viet Nam veterans in 1974. Marti continues to work at Swords to Plowshares on a volunteer basis. In August 2010, she earned the distinction of Advance Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist (ACRPS). This certification qualifies her to work as a consultant, assisting relapse prone patients at addiction treatment facilities.
Marti presently resides with her husband, Christopher, in Indianapolis and the San Francisco Bay area, alternately. She is blessed with an amazing daughter, Anne, and an awesome grandson, Drew
