Jan Mark (1943–2006)

Janet Marjorie Brisland married Neil Mark, and the couple had two children before the marriage ended in divorce. Jan Mark began her career as an author only in her mid-thirties, and was the author of numerous children’s books. She received the Carnegie Medal for her her works Thunder and Lightning (1977) and Handles (1983). She was awarded it a third and posthumous time for her work Turbulence (2005).
