The railway adventures : places, trains, people and… by Geoff Marshall
Like many books this is too long. There are some really interesting chapters but others such as 'Talk to as many people as you can' and 'Have your own adventure' less so. On the other hand 'Remember to get off at the right station' is really good as are the reviews of types of train and how the railway system actually works. eg. Network Rail, Train Operating Companies (TOCs), etc. The book also has plenty of good illustrations and interesting statistical tables and lists.
