Theodore Mathieson's wife was named Teresa, and they had three children--a son, David, and two daughters, Thalia and Karen. Significantly, Mr. Mathieson taught English for more than fifteen years in the public high schools of California, finally abandoning the academic ivory tower to devote his full time to writing. His typical "writer's background" discloses a Ted-of-all-trades: he once ran an elevator, wrapped packages in a department store, painted fish gates in a cannery, did bookkeeping in an oil refinery, worked for a radio station, and wrote, directed and produced plays for a summer theater. His hobbies include music, languages and (not at all surprising in the light of his literary legerdemain) sleight-of-hand. [adapted from the jacket]
