Her father was a famous actor-manager, her mother was an actress, and her paternal grandfather was the author and Punch cartoonist George du Maurier, who created the character of Svengali in the novel Trilby. She was also the cousin of the Llewelyn Davies boys, who inspired J.M. Barrie's characters in Peter Pan. She married Frederick ("Boy") Browning, a British military officer who was knighted in 1946 (making her Lady Browning) and had 3 children. | |
