Elizabeth was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during an Eastertide blizzard to Carol and Brent Mock, a teacher and a pastor. She spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals in her first few years of life. When she was barely three, she was diagnosed with genetic dwarfism due to a malfunctioning pituitary gland. She entered a study at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, which enabled her to eventually reach a height of five feet two inches. She went to Faith Community Christian School from kindergarten to second grade. Her parents decided to homeschool her when it was clear that she was struggling to learn to read because of her dyslexia. Elizabeth was homeschooled until the end of eighth grade. She attended Chartiers Valley High School and graduated in 2000. In the fall of 2000, she started her studies at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. She graduated in 2004 with a B.A. in Writing and Philosophy. In August 2004, she started working for Petersburg High School in Virginia teaching ninth grade English, which she taught for two years. The summer of 2006 she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to work as a private tutor for Providence Extension Program (P.E.P) teaching Philosophy to homeschooled high school students. She continues to work for P.E.P. On May 3, 2010, her debut novel, Shatter (The Children of Man, #1), was published by CreateSpace. At the end of June 2010, the book was released as an e-book and was distributed by Smashwords and Kindle Direct Publishing. By February 2011, Shatter had been downloaded over 100,000 times. The second book in The Children of Man series, Render, is due out summer 2011.
