The Appalachian Trail, which runs through downtown Hanover, is commemorating its 75th anniversary this year. In honor of this important anniversary, Howe Library and the Hanover and Norwich Friends of the Appalachian Trail invite you to join us for a talk by conservation photographer Jerry Monkman, a contributor to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy's new book, The Appalachian Trail: Celebrating America's Hiking Trail. In Part 1 of "White Mountain Wilderness", Mr. Monkman will tell the story of the "re-wilding" of the White Mountains through historic archive photos matched with present day images. In Part 2, he will share some of his iconic images of the White Mountains' most dramatic landscapes, including scenes from the Appalachian Trail. (howe_library)… (more)
