Catherine Montrose grew up in Laramie, Wyoming. Her fantasy novels were published in the 1980s, under the name Catherine Cooke (her maiden name). As Catherine Montrose (her married name) she wrote The Wendigo Border, a horror novel. She currently teaches writing at the University of Colorado Denver.
