Murakamania Midnight Release Party
Brazos Bookstore, Monday, August 11 at 10pm
Haruki Murakami is the greatest living Japanese author. Period.

Most unequivocal statements prompt rabid disagreement, but this one seems pretty safe. Author of numerous contemporary classics—among them THE WIND-UP BIRD CHRONICLES and 1Q84—Murakami’s new novel, Colorless tsukuru tazaki and his years of pilgrimage is another masterpiece, already receiving acclaim in Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews.

For this reason, we’re excited to host the MURAKAMANIA MIDNIGHT RELEASE PARTY on Monday, August 11.

There will be Murakami-inspired activities and games (The Wind-Up Bird Piñata! Pin the Kafka on the Shore! The Wild Sheep Count!), the winners of which will have a chance to walk away with a SIGNED COPY of Murakami’s new novel (supplies are limited!). St. Arnold’s will provide the beer, and acclaimed food truck Muiishi Makirritos will provide the munchies. Last but not least, we have our very own WHAT I TALK ABOUT WHEN I TALK ABOUT COLORING, a one-of-a-kind coloring book created by the Brazos Bookstore staff and free with the purchase of Murakami’s new novel. At midnight sharp, we will begin selling copies of COLORLESS TSUKURU. Make sure to pre-order your copy; we’re likely to run out!

It’ll be fun! It’ll be loose! It’ll be—unlike Colorless Tsukuru himself—colorful!

Pre-order your copy of COLORLESS TSUKURU TAZAKI below. Choose Pick Up In Store as the shipping option to retrieve your book at the party.

Location: Street: 2421 Bissonnet St City: Houston, Province: Texas Postal Code: 77005-1451 Country: United States (added from IndieBound)

About the Books Colorless tsukuru tazaki and his years of pilgrimage is the long-awaited new novel from the award-winning, internationally best-selling author Haruki Murakami - a book that sold more than a million copies the first week it went on sale in Japan. It tells the remarkable story of Tsukuru Tazaki, a young man haunted by a great loss; of dreams and nightmares that have unintended consequences for the world around us; and of a journey into the past that is necessary to mend the present. It is a story of love, friendship, and heartbreak for the ages. David Mitchell is the author of Cloud Atlas and one of the leading literary voices of his generation. His hypnotic new novel, The Bone Clock, is a kaleidoscopic novel that begs to be taken apart and put back together by a writer the Washington Post calls “the novelist who's been showing us the future of fiction.” John Darnielle is a writer, composer, guitarist, and vocalist for the band the Mountain Goats; he is widely considered one of the best lyricists of his generation. His audacious and gripping debut novel Wolf in White Van is a marvel of storytelling brio and genuine literary delicacy. Daniel Handler calls it “quiet, mysterious, menacing, taking you places you will never, never get out of your head”
