Mike Nichols, the Fort Worth Mike Nichols, who for many years wrote a popular humor column for the Star-Telegram, will be signing his new book, You Know You're a Texan If..., and his prize-winning novel, Balaam Gimble’s Gumption, at the Stockyard’s Museum in the Exchange Building this Saturday. (November 29) A portion of the sale will benefit the North Fort Worth Historical Society, which operates the museum on the ground-floor of the Exchange Building on East Exchange Ave. The signing will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Free Dr Pepper will be served. Nichols is an original Cowtown iconoclast whose wit is freely, and incisively, flaunted in his books. And the venue is apt for this son of the North Side -- where his grandfather ran a butcher shop. When they met, his mother worked in a packing plant and his father worked in the Stockyards. (premiumshlock)
