Awww, this book was really cute, which I didn't expect. I just couldn't NOT pick up a book about LARPing, even though I haven't been into that for about ten years or more.
But, Tilda is a fourteen year old girl who decides to give LARPing a chance and I was once a thirteen year old girl doing the same, so naturally I could relate to her a lot. Not entirely, even though her self-conciousness still rings a bell with me a 26, I was annoyingly weird when I was into LARPing, looking down on everyone that wasn't and generally showing off my weirdness as much as I could. Whatever, I was 13, it's allowed. And of course, I too, alienated a former best friend with my new hobby. That part was a little too true.
There were some things that were hard to believe. What person who is into LARPing hasn't seen Lord of the Rings??? I know she must've been pretty young when the movies came out (when I was her age the movies were just being released), but come on. I also don't understand how she's able to sew all these cool clothes and afford to buy material for the chain mail and fake swords - I couldn't afford any of those things without my parents help. Maybe I'm nitpicking. I also found it hard to believe she didn't make a single other friend besides Jesper, despite being in a LARPing group with lots of people.
But it was a cute book and I very much enjoyed it. ^^… (more)

I'm just very happy I FINALLY got to read a YA book where two people are in love and there are complications but they work it out, but then they just so happens to be lesbians as well.
Maybe it isn't worth five stars, but you know, I've been waiting for a book about two girls being in love and I'm gonna five star it because I fucking wanna. The first idk third or something was enough to hook me, but they did lack something, though I can't say what. It did pick up after that, and I would probably be giving it four stars had it been about a straight couple. Maybe. I was too busy crying over the lesbian romance to think about that.
I have picked up another book by the author, but I have waaaay lower expectations for that one. We'll see. If nothing else this was the perfect book to ending this reading year with, because I've been waiting for this, I really have.… (more)
