In her book, entitled "Charity begins at Home: Generosity and Self-Interest Among the Philanthropic Elite," argues that most rich people assume their charitable contributions benefit the needy and deserving, when in fact most of their donations end up underwriting activities controlled by the upper classes, particularly elite preparatory schools and colleges.
