Frances Partridge is known for her diaries and memoirs of the Bloomsbury Group. She entered that set in 1922 while working at a London bookstore owned by her brother-in-law (husband of her sister Rachel Marshall), the writer David "Bunny" Garnett. She got to know Lytton Strachey, Dora Carrington, and Ralph Partridge, who were living together at Ham Spray in Wiltshire. She and Partridge fell in love and she joined the household on weekends. After Lytton's death and Carrington's suicide in 1932, Frances and Ralph married and continued to live at Ham Spray.
