This is the second book that I have read by Kathleen Irene Paterka and I loved it! The women in the book were all strong and in independent, which is something that I like when reading women's fiction. I also loved the setting of the book, Las Vegas, one of my favorite places!

The story line was very entertaining and I came to love all of the characters, which does not always happen when I read a book. I loved the fact that the plot centered around a Las Vegas wedding chapel and the bond between the women that owned and worked there. The drama and mystery in the story line kept me reading, honestly I was sad to say goodbye to these characters when I finished the book.

I don't know about you but I can always tell a good book right from the beginning by the characters and whether or not I connect with them and would be friends in real life with them and I would be friends with Lily, the main character in the book.

I plan on reading more books by this author. This review was originally posted on

I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Insta Love for me!!! I jumped at the chance to read and review this book from one of my favorite authors! How could I resist, it is set in St. James Bay and in a Diner! Katy has found out that her father has a secret daughter from his past that has now entered their lives. Mai, the long lost daughter is not what she seems and Katy has her doubts about what Mai is really after, meanwhile her father is completely taken in by Mai. I felt that this was due to guilt from not knowing of Mai's existence. I was so exasperated at times by Chuck, Katy's father, I found myself saying out loud to him come on Chuck be cautious and listen to Katy! Katy is also dealing with a heavy burden of guilt concerning her mother's death. This book really deals with family drama and forgiveness. The dynamic between Father and daughter in this book is so well written. Mai , I really grew to detest her, has her own drama and story but the dynamics between Katy and Mai are very interesting and I sensed a bit of a bond between them.

What a drama filled and shocker of an ending! I am definitely hoping for a sequel to this book!

The Other Wife is a compelling and emotional story that follows two women whose world is turned upside down when they find out that they have been betrayed by the same man, their husband!

Author Kathleen Irene Paterka weaves an intriguing story told in the alternating point of view of Eleanor Anderson and Claire Anderson, as they deal with the loss of their husband Richard, and how they find out about each other and deal with their loss, betrayal, and the difficulties of moving forward with their lives after the trauma caused by the man that they both loved.

I found myself captivated by this story, it took me on a roller coaster ride where I felt the full gamut of emotions. You just can't help but feel compassion and empathy for both women as their worlds are turned upside down by the traumatic betrayal and selfish actions of a man that they had put their love and trust in. This is a beautifully written story that would be any married woman's nightmare, I couldn't even imagine what I would do if I was in Eleanor or Claire's shoes.

The author does a wonderful job of drawing the reader into the story from the beginning, she weaves a thoughtful storyline that easily draws the reader into the womens' lives. It will keep you engaged and turning the pages as both women go through the process of learning about each other, the selfish actions that Richard wrought upon their families, and the internal struggle of picking up the pieces of their lives and moving forward.

The Other Wife is a powerful women's fiction story of loss, betrayal, compassion, forgiveness, and growth. It is a thought provoking and emotional tale that will stay with you long after the last word has been read.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review and participation in a virtual book tour event hosted by Chick Lit Plus Blog Tours.

I received a copy of Royal Secrets by Kathleen Irene Paterka in exchange for an honest review.
Lily Lavender was born and raised in Las Vegas by her mother, Mimi, but while growing up Lily decided she wanted nothing to do with the promise of “Happily Ever After” that her mother’s business “The Royal Wedding Chapel of Las Vegas” has to offer. She’s a single mother herself, and her daughter, Tori shares the passion her grandmother has for the Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas and decides to run away from home and go to Las Vegas to help her grandmother. Obviously Lily has no choice but to go to Las Vegas to get her daughter, and so begins the drama that’s brought to life when Lily returns to her hometown to bring her daughter back.
The characters were well thought out and the hatred Lily felt towards her mother was depressingly real, as was the relationship between Lily and her daughter, Tori. Although Tori was a teenager, she seemed to have the most realistic grasp of everything that was going on around her because her mother’s hatred clouded her judgment in so many ways. Eventually Lily realizes that not everything is what it seems, and for the most part she has seriously misjudged the people around her and their motivations. This book is about the lengths a family will go to protect their own and how forgiveness and having an open heart can change your life.
