Warren Throckmorton and Michael Coulter, with decent conservative Christian credentials decided to take down David Barton, on the theory that truth matters, and demonstrate that Barton is playing free and loose with the historical reality. And it turns out that Thomas Jefferson was a Christian only by the broadest definition; the authors finally call him a theistic rationalist. They've backed it up with detailed quotes from Jefferson's writings, and after reading it, I felt I had a pretty good understanding of Thomas Jefferson's unique beliefs on religion.… (more)
