Gibson's Bookstore: Jodi Picoult (March 20 at) Jodi Picoult on tour for Lone Wolf. New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult joins us again on the Main Stage of the Capitol Center for the Arts on the final stop of her Lone Wolf book tour. We are fortunate to have Jodi as a friend of the store, and are excited to have this opportunity for fans to meet this mega-star. Her reading ... (more)and Q&A will be followed by a book-signing. To help pay for the use of the larger venue, this will be a ticketed event. Tickets will be $31.50, which includes a copy of Lone Wolf ($9 for the venue, $22.50 for the book at 20% off the cover price). Each ticket buyer may also purchase, in addition to but not in place of their $31.50 ticket, up to six tickets at $9 each (which do not come with books) for their family or group members. Books can be picked up before the event, at Gibson's Bookstore. Because of the large crowd expected: Please remember that if the signing-line is 300 people long, and Jodi takes even one minute to greet each fan, sign their books, and chat, then it will take her 300 minutes (5 hours!) to get through the line, and the person at the back of the line will have very sore feet. To pose for a picture adds even more time. To make sure the most people get to meet Jodi and have their books signed, we (and the publisher) have the following rules in place: Jodi will personalize all purchased copies of Lone Wolf, and sign one of her previous titles, without personalization. Photos are permitted, but to keep the line moving they will not be posed. Please have your cell phone or camera ready to hand to our staff, so we can take your picture in front of the table as Jodi signs your books. Event location: Capitol Center for the Arts

Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse: Jodi Picoult (March 21, 2011 at) Jodi Picoult discusses Sing You Home. New York Times bestselling author of an amazing 18 books, JODI PICOULT comes to Atlanta to share her new effort, a multimedia experience, SING YOU HOME (Atria Books), on MONDAY, MARCH 21, at 7:30 p.m. Picoult will appear at Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 781 Peachtree Street, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia ... (more)30308, 404-873-2636. This event is free and open to the public and preferred seating will be available with advance purchase of the book at Outwrite. SING YOU HOME explores what it means to be gay in today’s world, and how reproductive science has outstripped the legal system. Are embryos people or property? What challenges do same-sex couples face when it comes to marriage and adoption? What happens when religion and sexual orientation – two issues that are supposed to be justice-blind – enter the courtroom? And most importantly, what constitutes a “traditional family” in today’s day and age? Protagonist Zoe Baxter has spent ten years trying to get pregnant, and after multiple miscarriages and infertility issues, it looks like her dream is about to come true – she is seven months pregnant. But a terrible turn of events leads to a nightmare – one that takes away the baby she has already fallen for; and breaks apart her marriage to Max. In the aftermath, she throws herself into her career as a music therapist – using music clinically to soothe burn victims in a hospital; to help Alzheimer’s patients connect with the present; to provide solace for hospice patients. When Vanessa – a guidance counselor – asks her to work with a suicidal teen, their relationship moves from business to friendship and then, to Zoe’s surprise, blossoms into love. When Zoe allows herself to start thinking of having a family again, she remembers that there are still frozen embryos that were never used by herself and Max. Meanwhile, Max has found peace at the bottom of a bottle – until he is redeemed by an evangelical church, whose charismatic pastor – Clive Lincoln – has vowed to fight the “homosexual agenda” that has threatened traditional family values in America. But this mission becomes personal for Max, when Zoe and her same-sex partner say they want permission to raise his unborn child. Also – in a very unique move – readers will get to literally hear Zoe Baxter’s voice. Picoult collaborated with Ellen Wilber, her dear friend who is also a very talented musician, to create a CD of original songs, which will correspond to each of the chapters. The CD will be packaged with each hardcover book. Picoult is the author of 18 books, three of which debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list. Winner of numerous awards, Picoult has had three of her books made into movies for television and one, My Sister’s Keeper, was released theatrically starring Cameron Diaz.
