** A young adult novel about a teen who finds hope and a fresh start through theater. **
After his mother dies, Max Friedman struggles to live without the one person who understood him, and slips into a world of secrets and solitude. Desperate, his father enrolls him in a private school for creative teens. There, Max begins emerging from his darkness as he connects for the first time with other artistic kids. He meets Fish, a girl with pink hair and a troubled past; Ravi, a set designer with secrets of his own; and the Monk, an upperclassman who refuses to let go of the things he loves. When Max joins them in a production of Hamlet, he discovers that everyone struggles with something—and perhaps it is our imperfections that make life worth living. (TooFondOfBooks)
