As small as a trade paperback and light enough to carry. Covers Vancouver, Vancouver Island, the Yukon and Calgary. Includes a removable map and has lots of photos.

I read this...and now Montenegro's on my list of places to go!!
By sally tarbox on 29 April 2018
Format: Paperback
I've visited much of former Yugoslavia but never Montenegro...this is a fab little book that in 136p gives you all the basic info needed, but manages to inspire the would-be traveller too.
So yes, there are maps (inc a fold-out one in pocket), a mini-dictionary, facts on food, hotels, sights... but in my opinion Marco Polo guides stand out from the competition in that they are full of brilliant ideas (suggested tours include one entitled "Olives, pelicans and moon landscapes"), insider tips for lovely things that might not be in most books, and even suggested 'links, blogs and apps' to provide further tips.
Great little pocket guide to a beautiful land!

Enchanting Oxford!
By sally tarbox on 27 April 2018
Format: Paperback
I've visited Oxford numerous times and this is an absolutely lovely, useful and INSPIRING little book that makes me want to go back!
There's all the expected features, but (perhaps because Oxford's such a quirky, intriguing place to begin with), write-ups of eateries etc are full of 'Insider Tips' on things you might otherwise miss (Tudor wall paintings in Pizza Express! A cafe selling green kale cake!Best place in Oxford for a selfie!)
It covers everything: obviously the historic buildings and museums, but nightclubs, events, shopping...
I particularly liked the suggested 'Discovery Tours' - walks you can do with a specific flavour, whether 'Punts and Pints' or 'College Gargoyle Cocktail.'
Lots of interesting random facts in the first pages give the visitor a flavour of the city, and there's pages of street maps PLUS a big fold-out map in pocket at back.
Light to carry, full of info and ideas...love it!
