Nancy Poydar reads and signs BUS DRIVER a read-aloud picture book
The Concord Bookshop, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 1pm
nancy poydar reads from Bus Driver.
Children's author/illustrator Nancy Poldar will come to the bookshop to read from her latest book, "Bus Driver". Max loves Bus Driver. Finding the small, forgotten toy on the street was a fantastic bit of luck. Now Max does almost everything with Bus Driver: he gives him a bath, shares his lunch with him, and lets him nap in his bed. But poor Bus Driver has a way of getting lost--first at the store, then in the park, and even at the library. It isn't until Max sees his buddy's missing school bus that Bus Driver has a safe place of his own. This charming read-aloud about the joy of having a favorite toy is sure to find its way into preschoolers' hearts. Nancy Poydar grew up in eastern Massachusetts. After earning degrees in English and education from Tufts University, Nancy studied art at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and the Boston Museum School. She taught sixth grade for fourteen years in Concord, Massachusetts. Nancy always used illustrated books heavily in her reading programs, encouraging her students to use drawings and other art work to illustrate their own book reviews and projects. She encouraged her students to think of themselves as authors, illustrators, and critics as well as readers. Classroom visits from authors and illustrators inspired Nancy to try working in the children’s book field herself. After developing an illustrator’s portfolio, she left teaching to illustrate and eventually write full time. Nancy draws her ideas from motherhood, the classroom, and especially, from her own childhood. (TooFondOfBooks)… (more)
