Paul Quarrington Paul Quarrington, The Ravine. "Paul Quarrington is a kind of “Jack-of-all-arts.” He is a musician, painter, filmmaker, playwright, scriptwriter, novelist and non-fiction writer. His Governor General’s Award-winning novel, Whale Music, was made into a Genie Award nominated film. His other screenplay credits include the cult classic Perfectly Normal. Quarrington, who runs daily and plays some recreational hockey, has never had aspirations to become a professional athlete, but his extensive sports writing shows him to be a genuine aficionado. His fiction includes Home Game, about baseball, and the hockey books, Logan in Overtime and King Leary (this year’s Canada Reads winner defended by Dave Bidini). Life of Hope is about fishing—another of Paul’s passions. His non-fiction includes Hometown Heroes, Original Six and Fishing With My Old Guy. The Globe & Mail called his ninth novel, Galveston, “a brilliant, terrific, near-perfect piece of vacation reading.” The Ravine (Random House Canada, 2008) is its much-anticipated follow-up."
