This story is about an extended family who are all enjoying dinner together. There is a kids table and an adult table, and parents are trying to get the kids to eat all the foods they don't like. Instead of eating the food, the kids begin to make a mess! I would read this book to a Kindergarten or 1st grade class (5-6 years old). I found this book at the Pierce College library in the ECE section.

I would use this book for younger grades, such as k-1, to teach rhyming and rhythm as a read aloud. I would use this book specifically because it also goes over the alphabet and it has relevant information that the children of that age might not have been exposed to about Kentucky, so it would expose them to an informational text, too. I would also use this book with older kids, 4th grade, because there is extra information on each page that an older student could read to gather information on a report about a state when they are learning the states and capitals of them in social studies, so it would be directly relevant.… (more)

A good way to tell about the commonwealth of Kentucky, I like the illustrations for the book.
