Short biography
The American Christian Review. Probably the most influential paper in the brotherhood for over a quarter of a century after 1856. The editor, Ben Franklin, was, doubtlessly, the most popular preacher in the churches of Christ after Alexander Campbell. For eleven years John Franklin Rowe served as an associate-editor under Franklin later to become his successor as editor of the Review. Rowe, too, founded the Christian Leader in 1886, and served as its editor until his death in 1897.
