The Hon. Monica Grenfell, daughter of Lord and Lady Desborough, was a Red Cross nurse in France during World War I. In 1924, she married Air Marshall Sir John Maitland Salmond of the Royal Air Force. Their daughter Rosemary married Nicholas Mosley.  Their son Julian married Brigid Wright, elder sister of Susan Mary Wright, the future mother of Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.
